It's official: California is filled with jerks. It doesn't matter what part of the state you drive to; you see time-obsessed residents all over the place doing whatever they want without regard for anyone else. I get it; we're all busy, but you have to understand the repercussions of your actions and how your actions got us into this situation to begin with.

Let's start with the traffic. It's no secret that California traffic sucks. It's congested at all times of day, and there are people everywhere. People are so obsessed with their appearance that they spend too long getting ready in the morning and trying to make up time on the road. Guess what? It's not gonna happen. Everyone is doing the same thing, so your reckless driving and trying to make up time are causing accidents and making you and everyone else late, too. Set your alarm a little earlier. Who knows how many deaths have been caused by emergency vehicles trying to get to someone who needs help but couldn't get there in time because of someone's reckless driving.

The overall rudeness has to stop. Why can't you look someone in the eye or even acknowledge their existence when you walk past them at a shopping center, grocery store, or your own office? Are you really that busy? Was the traffic so bad that you're so late that now you can't even smile at someone as you walk past their desk?

But this is a new low, even for Californians. Go to any Ralphs or Vons parking lot, and you'll see cars parked in the curbside pickup spots. Parked. Not in their vehicle. They aren't waiting for someone to bring their groceries to their car; they are too short on time to park in a regular parking space and walk like everyone else. They're either too entitled, or they just didn't plan their day well enough that they think the extra two minutes of walking from a regular space and back will make a massive difference in how late they are.

You're late. You messed up. Accept it. Move on. You can be a jerk to your family, friends, and co-workers, but don't be the jerk in the Ralphs parking lot.
