Are Boise State fans looking forward to March more than they are December these days? In case you missed the memo, Boise State's basketball program has outshined the football program--IN football season. Has a shift begun to happen under Leon Rice's leadership?

Last year, Boise State's football season ended in a less-than-exciting fashion and while that went on, Boise State's basketball team went on a huge winning streak that eventually led them to the top of the Mountain West standings. For the first time in a long time, seats were getting filled INDOORS where the basketball team was getting wins.  Many chalked up that rough football season to the new regime under an all new coaching staff.

This year, a flat ending to the football season has also been outdone by Leon Rice and company.

It's time we get honest about the football program at Boise State. The dominance is over.

Winning games is one thing--but protecting the home field, winning the conference, and playing in major bowl games is another. Since 2013, Boise State has only won the conference title THREE times. In the last five times they've played in the title game, they've been beat three times.

While football stats continue to decline, basketball stats are up--Boise State won the regular season AND conference tournament titles for the Mountain West last year and over the weekend, they proved they're up to par again this year.

On the road against Texas A&M, Boise State handled the power-conference team on national television.

They've also beat Loyola-Chicago, The University of Colorado, and Washington State--all great non-conference matchups.

Is Boise State turning into a "basketball school" right before our eyes? We don't want to jinx it.

Boise State's Most Underappreciated Star

Boise State seems to mean "football" for most, right? On a national stage, after all, it's the blue turf and the success that the Broncos have had on it that made the university a household name. What happens on the hardwood, however, is far from appreciated at the level that it should be. Leon Rice came to Boise State as a blessing from one of the most powerful basketball programs in the nation: Gonzaga University. Now, the winningest basketball coach in the history of the school seems to take immediate heat if the Broncos aren't in the Final Four. Spoiled by wins on the football field, fans seem to expect the same of the basketball program but when the investment in basketball is so much less than football--can you really have these types of expectations!?

Security Slams Boise State Students to Ground After Win

History was made at ExtraMile Arena on the night of Tuesday, March 1st. When you think of the arena--you may think of your favorite concerts or acts. No, a sell out crowd didn't set a record. The Boise State men's basketball team did. One might think that a major celebration was in order. Clearly, some security folks had a different idea.
