People often say Treasure Valley drivers are some of the worst in the country. What makes people think that? It's probably one of the following three things that drive out-of-towners absolutely crazy.

The number one thing that drives people crazy about Treasure Valley drivers is the obsession with the right lane. We love the right lane so much that we stack the right lane when we have a right turn coming up more than a mile before our turn or exit. It causes people to cut off others. It causes road rage and it causes accidents. Great examples are on Cole Road as you head towards the Connector at 7:30 each morning or any night at 5:30 at I-84 and Garrity.

Another thing that Treasure Valley drivers do is run red lights. We see a yellow, and we just speed up. If you're waiting on a red light, count how many cars go through after it turns red on Eagle Road sometime. The over/under is set at 3.

After driving around the Boise area for more than a day, you'll understand that we believe turn signals are optional. We'd never know if the light in our turn signals were out because we only use them if a police officer is in front of or behind us. Otherwise, we'd tell the dealerships just to take the turn signals out of the car to save a few bucks on the price.

Sure, we have some good qualities too. We actually stop for people having car trouble on the side of the road and offer help. Most places can't say that. The next time you're helping someone on the side of the road, maybe you can teach them about their 4-way hazard flashers.
